There are many ways that you can help advocate for a positive education for your child. One important way is to attend PTO meetings where you can learn more about school activities and ways to engage.

We also have a local chapter of Strong Schools Maryland which works to advocate for better education policies on a state level. The local chapter meets once a month at an organizer’s home in Mt. Rainier. For more information on this organization and how to get involved, please contact us.

Throughout the year, there are county-level school board meetings and hearings where important education policy information is shared and discussed. If you have an interest in learning more about this process, please contact us.

Parents can also find helpful resources and workshops through the Prince George’s County Department of Family and Community Engagement. The department’s Family Institute has many helpful resources, including parent toolkits, courses, and events designed to help parents better support their child’s learning experience in our county’s school system.
